A nationwide verification exercise of the Targeted Public Distribution System has led to the removal of more than 2.12 crore ineligible beneficiaries, following an extensive data-matching effort carried out by the government between 2024 and 2025. The information was placed before the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
