The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) found that dupattas gifted during rituals like Vedasirvachanam, which tenders mandated to be 100% pure mulberry silk with specific yarn denier, temple symbols, and inscriptions, were in reality made entirely of polyester. Samples tested at Central Silk Board labs in Bengaluru and Dharmavaram confirmed there was no silk content.
