Indian Railways announced a new fare structure effective Dec 26 2025, adding 1 paise/km for ordinary class and 2 paise/km for mail/express non-AC/AC journeys over 215km (e.g., ₹10 extra for 500km non-AC). Short routes, suburban and season tickets remain unchanged to protect affordability. Expected ₹600 crore annual revenue gain follows July 2025 hike’s ₹700 crore collection. Additionally, 244 spec
