Mexico’s new law, approved on 11 Dec 2025, will slap 5-50% tariffs on 1,463 products from non-FTA nations including India, China and South Korea starting 1 Jan 2026 to protect local manufacturing. India is actively negotiating with Mexico for a mutually beneficial outcome and accelerating Free Trade Agreement talks, with Terms of Reference expected soon.
