Minimum pension of Rs 1,000 per month under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS-95) not increased since 2014. Pensioners and unions are pushing for a significant hike, with proposals ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, potentially to be announced in the Union Budget 2026.
The Indian government has clarified in Parliament that it currently has no plans to increase the EPS-95 minimum monthly pension from ₹1,000 to the demanded ₹7,500.
