India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has mandated SIM binding for messaging apps like WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegram, requiring continuous linkage to the registration SIM card within 90 days to curb cyber fraud. This forces WhatsApp Web and similar web services to automatically log out users every six hours.
