The Reserve Bank of India has quietly lifted the ₹2.5 lakh crore overall limit under the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR), allowing foreign portfolio investors to bring in unlimited long-term capital into government securities, corporate bonds, treasury bills, SDLs, NCDs, and commercial papers. Investors must retain 75% of funds for three years to enjoy relaxed rules.
