The Indian government is actively considering mandatory hallmarking for silver jewellery and artefacts to enhance consumer safety in the precious metals sector, as announced by BIS Director General Sanjay Garg. Unlike gold’s compulsory system, silver currently operates voluntarily with HUID for purity verification.
